When an avulsion type injury occurs to a lower extremity like a foot why is it called a  degloving injury?  (I even checked with the ICD 10 code)  Pardon my foolesque nature, but  it might be more accurate to call it a destocking injury.

  2. I was thinking it should be called a desocking injury. A stocking here is something that females usually wear with either a garter belt or they're stayups which have the same sticky stuff on them that the tapes for catheter leg bags have on them.

  4. Yes, anonymous the term desocking describes this type of injury best. I guess I was having one of my brain freezes. Thanks for correcting me and indulging in my foolishness.
